We are committed to ending your suffering – Sajith

Our comprehensive approach to creating employment opportunities for the country’s youth, particularly unemployed graduates, under a Samagi Jana Balawegaya-led Sandhanaya government, would alleviate Sri Lanka’s unemployment crisis, SJB Presidential Candidate and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said.

Addressing an election rally in Medawachchiya, he added, “I am committed to resolving the issues of the people by uplifting their livelihoods, upon my election to the office of President. “Starting in January, we will increase the salaries of state employees by 24 percent. The living expenses allowance will be raised to Rs. 25,000, and the minimum salary for state workers will be Rs 57,500. We will revise the existing tax rates, reducing them from a range of 6 percent to 36 percent to a range of 1 percent to 24 percent.

“We will also offer a 50-kilogramme bag of fertiliser to farmers for Rs. 5,000, and all outstanding agriculture loans will be written off,” Premadasa added.

“We will implement a comprehensive plan to create job opportunities for the youth of this country, including unemployed graduates.

“I see everyone in this country as my family. We are committed to ending your suffering and to strengthen your lives. I will encourage the people by considering the sufferings of the people as my own. I am committed to resolving the issues of the people and will definitely strengthen the livelihoods of the people,” he said.
