Former Opposition and Samagi Jana Balawegaya Leader Sajith Premadasa said the party is conducting reviews on the defeat in the Presidential Election and is preparing to pave the way for victory in the upcoming General Election.
He further mentioned that after securing a victory in the General Election, the party would work hand-in-hand with the President to implement the necessary plans to uplift the country.
Speaking at a media briefing held at the sacred Temple of Tooth in Kandy on Saturday (19), Premadasa emphasised that his team, which has the best vision, plans and capability to rebuild the country, will remain united in the General Election just as they were in the Presidential Election.
He assured that the team is committed to implementing a national policy that aligns with the needs of the 22 million people of the country, ensuring a positive, progressive future.
Premadasa added that their vision and plans have already been presented to the country, and he is confident of receiving the public’s blessings to implement them effectively. He remarked that while many are eager to claim victory, few are willing to take responsibility for defeat. He took personal responsibility for the loss in the presidential election and stated that the party is now addressing the shortcomings as they prepare for the parliamentary elections, he said.
In conclusion, Premadasa reiterated that his team would work closely with the President to ensure the successful implementation of policies that would lead to the country’s development, while also offering support in pushing forward positive initiatives and identifying areas for improvement.
