We will establish a production based economy – UDV

A strong opposition is essential for a country, and the United Democratic Voice (UDV) party is prepared to strengthen it, said Colombo District candidate Ivan Hemachandra addressing a public rally organised by the party in Colombo recently.

Commenting on the public’s current rejection of traditional parties, Hemachandra asserted that his party is capable of filling this gap. He described the United Democratic Voice as a party capable of envisioning a future beyond traditional norms.

Under the leadership of Ranjan Ramanayake, the party is committed to fortifying the opposition, he stated.

He further said:

“Regardless of which government is in power, there is a need for an opposition that can challenge it. Our party does not follow the traditional approach of opposing everything the government does. We have the strength to support the good and oppose the wrong. Our leader, Ranjan Ramanayake, has already proven this through action. We have no desire to engage in endless criticism or personal attacks – those are traditional tactics. Our focus is on voicing the concerns of the people who feel unheard. This is why the United Democratic Voice was formed. When we reach out to the public, their primary request is for us to represent their voices, which shows the high level of trust they place in us.

“For the country’s development, establishing a production-based economy is essential. Every possible product should be manufactured locally. Recent reports show that many items that could be cultivated domestically are imported. By producing and consuming locally, we can strengthen the economy. Our party has a well-structured plan to achieve this, and we will soon introduce it to the public and put it into action.”
