The Western Province (WP) Education Ministry has issued a Circular prohibiting government school teachers in the Province from conducting private tuition classes for their students for monetary gain.
According to the Circular, teachers in the WP are forbidden from holding paid extra classes for their students during school hours, after school hours, on weekends, or on public holidays at external locations.
Zonal Education Directors have been informed of this directive, and the Circular emphasises that appropriate action will be taken against teachers who disregard these instructions.
Similarly, the Provincial Education ministries of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Southern Provinces have also issued Circulars prohibiting government school teachers from conducting paid extra classes for their students.
