Wheat flour tax increased, permit system abolished

Finance State Minister Dr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that the permit system which was required for the import of wheat flour has been abolished with effect from midnight yesterday (29). 

The State Minister stated this while speaking to the media in Ruwanwella yesterday (30).

The tax imposed on the import of wheat flour has also been increased from Rs.16 to Rs. 27 per kilogram. The State Minister says that a tax Rs.6 per kilo has been imposed on wheat grains.

The Minister further said that due to this, there will be no increase in the price of wheat flour and only import control is expected from this move.
