White Campus Collaborates with Sri Lanka Police to Enhance Mobile Device Security Training

In a pioneering effort to address escalating cybersecurity challenges, White Campus, a leading provider of online and in-person education in Sri Lanka, recently partnered with the Sri Lanka Police to deliver an advanced training program on “Complete Mobile Device Security.” This collaboration, led by Mr. Waruna Fonseka, the esteemed founder and CEO of White Campus, marks a significant milestone in equipping law enforcement personnel with the necessary knowledge and skills to combat security threats in the digital age.

On December 8, 2023, the Police Computer Training Center in Havelock Town hosted the comprehensive training program, which attracted a diverse group of police officers and staff from various departments, including the Police Headquarters staff, Computer Crime Investigation Division, IT Operations, and Programs, among others. Under the expert guidance of experienced instructors, Mr. Waruna Fonseka, Chanaka Hettiarachi, and Kalana Pramod, the participants delved into a wide range of topics related to mobile device security, gaining invaluable insights into the ever-evolving landscape of cybersecurity.

Throughout the rigorous training, the participants acquired in-depth knowledge of Android security. They learned to analyze Android apps, understand the Android architecture and data structures, and identify potential mobile security threats and risks. The program also covered essential aspects of network security, addressing topics such as identity theft, credit card fraud, online banking phishing scams, viruses and backdoors, email hoaxes, online sex offenders, loss of confidential information, hacking attacks, and social engineering.

By successfully completing this training program, the police officers and staff are now equipped with the necessary skills to effectively mitigate security risks and safeguard their mobile devices from potential threats. In today’s technology-driven society, where criminals exploit digital platforms for illicit activities, the collaboration between White Campus and the Sri Lanka Police emphasizes the crucial role of continuous professional development and the need to stay updated with the latest advancements in technology.

SSP Ashoka Dharmasena, a participant in the training program, expressed his gratitude towards White Campus for organizing the workshop. He stated, “In today’s digital age, where mobile devices have become vital tools in combating crime, this training program has been immensely beneficial to our officers. It has equipped us with the knowledge and skills to protect ourselves and valuable information from potential threats.”

Mr. Waruna Fonseka, the visionary behind White Campus, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the training program, stating, “We believe that empowering law enforcement agencies with cutting-edge cybersecurity skills is vital in maintaining a safe and secure digital environment for all Sri Lankans. By equipping the police officers with the necessary expertise, we can collectively combat the ever-evolving threats in the digital realm.”

The training program concluded with a certificate awarding ceremony, where each participant was recognized for their commitment to continuous professional development and dedication to upholding digital security within the Sri Lanka Police.
