National Freedom Front (NFF) Leader MP Wimal Weerawansa said that the political party that taught Sri Lanka ‘Indian expansionism’ is silent today because they are also very strong members of the Indian operation to take over Sri Lanka.
Speaking at a press conference held last Tuesday (6) at the NFF head office in Pitakotte, Weerawansa said that India’s desire is to quickly spread its political-economic dominance over Sri Lanka.
“It is very sad that today Nepal, which has no ports of its own, is heavily influenced by India.
They exert enormous pressures in the midst of intense economic crisis in Sri Lanka to get the ETCA Agreement signed, and spread Indian dominance economically and politically over the country,”he said. Weerawansa said that many political parties in Sri Lanka are in favour of it today. “That’s why no one points out this danger, the real risk. That is why the people who taught Sri Lanka about ‘Indian expansionism’ are keeping their mouth shut today. They have also become very powerful members in this process of victimisation and acquisition,” he said.
