A woman was killed after a vehicle belonging to All Ceylon Tamil Congress (ACTC) MP Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam crashed into her at a pedestrian crossing at Bolawatta Junction in Puttalam on Sunday, police said.
The MP’s driver was driving the car at the time of the accident. According to police, the accident occurred while the MP was returning to Jaffna from Colombo.The woman was admitted to hospital and she had succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the MP’s vehicle was arrested by the Police in connection with the accident.
The deceased woman is said to be around 65 years and her identity has not been ascertained.The driver is to be produced in Court.
