The Medirigiriya Police said that a woman residing in Mirishena area of Medirigiriya was shot dead allegedly by her paramour on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Nirojani Priyadarshani (38) of Medirigiriya Mirishena area.
The deceased’s husband had died and later she had got involved in a relationship with another person. This person had come to the woman’s house that night and quarrelled with her, then returned to his house. Later he has gone to her house and shot at her. The suspect has fled the area after committing the murder.
Further investigations are being carried out by Medirigiriya Headquarters Chief Inspector W. A. L.Vithanage and Officer-In-Charge of the Crimes Investigation Division, Inspector A. M. Prabath, under the guidance of Polonnaruwa SSP Shanaka De Silva.
