Woman suspect held with jewellery worth Rs.10.2 million

Police Narcotics Bureau arrested a Sri Lankan business woman who tried to smuggle Rs.10.2 million worth jewellery which was brought from India at Katunayake Airport on Thursday (28).

She was arrested while leaving the airport after completing all the checks. The jewellery weighs 587 grams and 316 milligrams.

The woman, who is a 54-year-old resident of Kotahena, Colombo, was engaged in business activities by taking frequent flights. She came to the Katunayake Airport from India in flight 6E1171.

Suspect and the jewellery were handed over to the Airport Customs officers by the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.
