Construction of the Obesekarapura Arunodaya Mawatha apartment complex in Rajagiriya resumed Thursday after being halted due to the financial crisis, political instability and poor contractor performance, the ministry of transport, highways and urban development announced.
The project, which began in 2020, will be completed under a strategic plan within 18 months. The 15-story complex will include 300 housing units of 500 square feet each.
The development is being carried out under the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development, with the Urban Development Authority as the implementing agency. It is financed with Rs. 2,939.49 million from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
The resumption event was held under the patronage of Minister Bimal Rathnayake and attended by Deputy Minister Eranga Gunasekara and others. (NewsWire)
