Sri Lanka Wushu Federation is expected to uplift the Wushu sport and made successful discussions with newly appointed Schools Wushu Federation officials last Tuesday. Their aim is to give more Infrastructure facilities for the players and especially focus on developing the technical side of this sport.
This will be a major turning point for Sri Lanka Wushu and both National Federation and Schools Federation are expected to join hands to promote the sport. The National Federation President Manel Dharmakeerthi, who is the livewire of this sport, wanted to go forward with the school body. They have discussed very important issues to develop school Wushu which is the platform of this game.
Wushu is an international medal-winning sport as Sri Lanka has won several medals from International meets. Sri Lankan players reached very close to the Bronze medal at the last Asian Games and once again Wushu Federation is more focused on the next Asian Games.
The experienced Wusshu Consultant Sidath Dewanarayana, former Schools Wushu Secretary Ajith Atapattu, National Federation Vice President and coordinator of the Schools Federation Kithsiri Subasinghe, Wushu Vice President Luxman Karunaratne, Assistant Treasurer Wasantha Bandara, National Wushu coach (Thaolu section) Buddhi Dunstan de Thabrew and senior coaches and National Wushu Selection Committee senior member Nuwan Sanjeewa were present at this discussion.
