Another 822 suspects have been arrested during the countrywide special operation ‘Yukthiya’ carried out by the Police and the Special Task Force (STF).
The arrests were made during the special operation conducted between 3.00 am on January 1 till 3.00 am on January 2, the Public Security Ministry said.
Police were able to seize 273 grams of heroin, 111 grams of ICE, 1 kg and 623 grams of cannabis, 100 cannabis plants, four grams of mawa and 426 narcotic pills.
Out of the 822 suspects arrested during the special operation, 60 suspects are being investigated further on detention orders.
Police were able to arrest 91 suspects who were on the list of registered suspects of the Police Narcotics Bureau and the Special Bureau in this operation.
Also, 72 drug addicts have been referred to rehabilitation centres.
A total of 20,742 suspects were arrested as of yesterday since the launch of the Yukthiya special operation on December 17.
The Police have recovered a large amount of narcotics, while they have also seized several illegally acquired assets, including properties and vehicles, during the multiple raids.
