Zahira College students launch their books

Zahira College Writers’ Forum launched 20 books in English and Sinhala recently at the college’s Abdul Ghaffoor Hall. The book launch was held under the patronage of the college’s Principal Trizviiy Marikar.

Teacher-in-charge of the Writers’ Forum Fathima Shazna delivered the welcome address.

The chief guest at the ceremony, writer and senior journalist Asiff Hussein congratulated the students for writing the books. He also commended the college’s management for guiding and helping the students to develop their writing skills.

Principal Marikar also addressed the gathering outlining the aims and aspirations of the college and appreciated the hard work of the teachers to help students author their own books. He requested students to write more books in any language – Sinhala, Tamil or English – and congratulated the writers.

Amra Nuzrath and college staffer W. Dhananjika Deepani reviewed the books.

Chief guest Asiff Hussein pinned the badges on incoming board members of the Writers’ Forum and the authors of books received certificates.

Deputy Principal Mohamed Shazuli, Vice Principal Co-Curricular Activities Zeenath Ismail, Vice Principal Tamil Medium A.M. Mihilar, Head of Primary Hasna Iflal, Sectional Head Shinaz Badurdeen, teachers, parents and students were present.
