The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has arrested the Zonal Education Director and a Teacher Advisor of the Dehiattakandiya Zonal Education Office.
The arrests were made following a complaint by a resident of Dehiattakandiya, who alleged that the officials had demanded a bribe of Rs. 50,000 to extend his appointment at the Zonal Education Office after he had rejoined service through the Ministry of Education.
The two suspects were taken into custody yesterday at the Zonal Education Office while allegedly accepting the bribe.
They are scheduled to be produced before the Dehiattakandiya Magistrate’s Court. (Newswire)
