Asia Siyaka gets new Chairman
Chandana de Silva has been appointed Chairman of Asia Siyaka Commodities PLC, the second-largest tea broker in Sri Lanka holding a 15 percent market share.
The Colombo Stock Exchange was announced on Friday, June 23rd 2023. De Silva succeeds Thirunavakarasu Someswaran who chaired the company for five years since 2018.
De Silva possesses over four decades of managerial and financial experience in multiple disciplines and competencies in the UK and Sri Lanka including a competent track record in strategic leadership.
In the UK, De Silva rose to the position of Chief Financial Officer for Europe of Level (3) Communications, a Nasdaq-quoted company, while in Sri Lanka, he held a variety of roles at MAS Holdings since 2002. Before his retirement in 2011, he functioned as the MAS Investments Division CEO.
His current appointments include Chairman of Janashakthi Limited (the holding company of the Janashakthi Group) and a member of the Board of Directors of First Capital Holdings PLC, First Capital Treasuries PLC, Eureka Technologies (Pvt) Limited and 24/7 Techies (Pvt) Limited. De Silva is an Independent Non-Executive Director and Consultant in multiple corporates.

We now look forward to a new chapter being written for Asia Siyaka Commodities under the able leadership of our new Chairman Chandana de Silva.”
