Aswesuma: Jail, fine for those providing wrong info

Kalutara District Secretary Janaka Ginige said that if inaccurate information is provided to government officials to secure ‘Aswesuma’ benefits, a fine of not more than

Rs. 5,000 or an imprisonment of not more than one year or both the fine and imprisonment can be imposed.

The District Secretary stated regarding this after being asked by the media regarding the allegations raised by the personnel saying that the “Aswasuma” benefits have been deprived.

The District Secretary also said: Any person who furnishes false or incorrect information, fails to notify the Commissioner of any material change in the information, or who attempts to interfere or influence any person in the performance of his duties or who fails to act in accordance with any order made under this Act shall be liable to the above fine or to imprisonment or to both such fine and imprisonment.
