Bail for Inland Revenue Dept. official in hit-and-run case

Nittambuwa Police on Sunday arrested a senior official of the Inland Revenue Department in connection with a fatal car accident. Police said that the Inland Revenue Department officer, a resident of Pasyala, was arrested in connection with the death of a pedestrian who was hit by the jeep he was driving. The accident had happened on May 21 and a 72-year-old guard of an estate in Pasyala, was seriously injured in this accident.

The guard was admitted to the Wathupitiwala hospital and died on Sunday (09) while receiving treatment. On the day of the accident, the Inland Revenue Department officer had been arrested and produced before the Attanagalla Magistrate’s Court. The Court had granted him bail. Police said that he was arrested again on Sunday (09) in connection with a fatal car accident and was released on bail after being produced before the Attanagalla Magistrate’s Court yesterday (10).
