Cash, gold stolen from Ruhuna Senior Lecturer’s house

The Ahangama Police has launched an investigation regarding a theft of nearly Rs.1.4 million that took place at the Thombuwe Walawwa located at Ahangama, Kathaluwa, where Senior Lecturer Dr. Marian Jayawardena of Ruhunu University’s Medicine Faculty resides.

Ahagama Police said that the theft took place between February 19 and 22.

Dr.Jayawardena had lodged a complaint with the police in connection with this and stated that Rs. 40,000 in cash and Rs. 1,350,000 rupees worth of gold items had been stolen from a wardrobe inside the house.

It had been foundthat the theft took place when the doors of the house had been unlocked and open. The Ahangama Police said that the thief has not yet been identified and investigations are underway.
