CEA to investigate dumping of fuel into Diyawanna Oya

The Minister of Environment Mahinda Amaraweera has instructed the Director General of the Central Environmental Authority Hemantha Jayasinghe to immediately inquire into the incident and submit a report to him as he has received information regarding a fuel tank floating in the Diyawanna Oya.

The incident was reported about two days ago and a friend of the Minister had provided some photographs in this regard.

The photos also show a large layer of oil floating towards the Diyawanna Oya.

The Minister also instructed to look into whether this act was committed by an individual, an institution or a group.
