Constable interdicted after treasure digging in Wellawa

Officers of the Kuliyapitiya Division Crimes Investigation Bureau who carried out an investigation into digging of treasure on a land located at Wellawa, arrested a police constable deployed at the Kurunegala Police Station who had been involved in it on June 1.

The digging for treasure had taken place on April 4. During a raid carried out by the Kurunegala Division Crimes Investigation Bureau, six suspects who had been digging for treasure on an estate located at Wellawa had been taken into custody.

During investigations it had been revealed that this task had been operated by a constable attached to the Kurunegala Police Station.

The Kurunegala DIG had assigned officers of the Kurunegala Division Crimes Investigation Bureau to carry out investigations.

This constable had been taken into custody based on information that had been revealed subsequent to conducting investigations.

The Kurunegala Assistant Superintendent has interdicted this police constable from yesterday (6).
