COVID statistics unacceptable – Farmers’ TU Chief

National Organizer of the All Ceylon Farmers’ Federation Namal Karunaratne said the Government’s statistics of the number of deaths and cases of COVID-19 presented cannot be accepted.

Karunaratne stated that the compilation of erroneous data is done with the Government’s connivance of those responsible government officials. “Otherwise, officials will not be tempted to provide false data in any way. Therefore, the Government should not try to cover up its shortcomings by blaming officials,” he added.

“He also pointed out that the health officials are also disappointed with the conduct of the Government, and their instructions have fallen on deaf ears. “The government has already taken the people to the brink of death,” he added.

He further said that Medical Specialists project that more new strains of the coronavirus could be created.

He said that the Government is fully responsible for the country’s problems.

“Moreover, the Government has increased prices of several essential commodities, dragging the citizens to the worst state amidst dire circumstances”.
