Disabled soldier found dead after party

The body of an Army soldier who had been deployed at the Panagoda Army Camp was found from his home in Adhiranigama, Anuradhapura, on a bed day on Thursday (29) evening.

Anuradhapura Police conducting investigations said the deceased was identified as G. U. Priyajanaka (31). Police said one of the soldier’s legs had been removed five years ago when he had suffered an electric shock and he had been working as a disabled soldier. Police said that the soldier was unmarried and only he had lived in the house where his body was found. During investigations it had been revealed that on June 28 this soldier had partied together with his friends. When his friends had returned on 29 evening to meet him, they had seen him lying dead. These friends had informed the police. The post-mortem examination on the deceased army soldier had been conducted at the Anuradhapura hospital and the reason for the death had been confirmed as a heart attack.
