Government to provide indigenous medicines island-wide

The Government has taken measures to provide indigenous immune strengthening medicines and porridge to all families in the country with the intention of controlling the current Covid 19 pandemic.

Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers granted its consent to the resolution submitted by the Health Minister to provide a medicine box approved by the Formula Committee of the Department of Ayurveda to every family on the island.

Addressing the media at the cabinet media conference held today at the Government Information Department, State Minister of Indigenous Medicine Promotion, Rural & Ayurveda Hospital Development & Community Health Sisira Jayakody said that the distribution of medicine is scheduled to be started from high-risk areas where the virus is spreading rapidly these days.

He further said that measures will be taken to distribute these medicine boxes throughout the country within the next few weeks. The medicine box will be prepared by including several types of medicines approved by the Formula Committee of the Department of Ayurveda.
