Japanese loans for Lankan skyways
The Sri Lankan government has decided to obtain a loan from Japan for the proposed skyway (elevated highway) from the Kelaniya Bridge in Peliyagoda to Rajagiriya.
Japanese loans are also intended to be used to build the segment from Pothuhara to Galagedara in the third phase of the Central Expressway.
A sum of Rs. 1 Billion is projected as the combined cost of the two projects. The amount is expected to be borrowed from the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ.
