Kavishan Nirmal the athlete turned volleyball player
He was born on February 8, 2002 and initially he was admitted to Wadiyagoda Junior School in 2008.
In Grade-4, he participated at the Inter-House Sports Meet Under-10, 80m and 100m and high jump events.

He also participated in the Divisional, Zonal and Provincial Meets and won merit certificates for reaching the qualifying times. Then in 2013, he was drafted to Vijayaba National School, Hungama and took to volleyball under the guidance of Coach Tharaka Rathnaweera.
In 2015, his school won the Divisional, Zonal, District and Provincial Tournaments and in the same year his school was placed fourth in the All-Island Under-15 National Schools Tournament.
In the following year, they emerged third in the All-Island Under-16 National Schools Tournament and in 2017 they emerged All-Island runners-up in the National Schools Tournament.
The team received a merit certificate in 2019 after they came third in the All-Island Under-18 DSI Volleyball Tournament. With all these performances under his belt he was selected for the Under-18 Junior National Pool consisting of 14 members for the tour of Iran in 2018. He is currently a member of the Pubudu Vijayaba Volleyball Club.
