A state-of-the-art mobile Intensive Care Unit (ICU) donated by Premium International was handed over by its Chairman Prasanna Kularatne to health authorities at the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital yesterday. The Unit, which is 40 feet in length and 12 feet in width, comprises cutting-edge technology. It has been made by combining two containers at a cost around Rs 50 million. It consists of three ICU beds.The patients in the three ICU beds can be monitored remotely through CCTV cameras round the clock. The Company said another mobile ICU similar to this one is being finalised and to be handed over to the Health Ministry soon. Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella commended the initiative of the local company. Health Services Director General Dr. Asela Gunawardena and Peradeniya Teaching Hospital Director Dr. Arjuna Thilakaratne were present.
