Over 350 graduates working in unskilled grades – Opposition Leader
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa requested the government in Parliament yesterday to recruit public servants in the preliminary grade when recruiting graduate teachers to the Teacher’s Service.
He said that there are more than 350 persons who have degrees among the people working as labourers, watchmen, office assistants and healthcare assistants.
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said so while drawing the attention of Parliament regarding the severe injustice that has been caused to that group.
Accordingly, he said that even though there are newspaper reports that 8,000 graduates will be recruited for the Teacher Service this year, no opportunity has been given to those who are belonging to the preliminary grade positions in the public service.
The Opposition Leader said that these public servants in the preliminary grade have external degrees and internal degrees, but they cannot get promotions based on their rank and requested that attention be paid to this as this is a serious humanitarian problem.
