President’s vision helped to improve Happiness Index ranking – UNP
United National Party (UNP) General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara, said that nine months have passed since President Ranil Wickremesinghe took over the country and after rescuing it from bankruptcy, it has been possible to improve Sri Lanka’s position on the World Happiness Index by 15 steps from the 127th position to the 112th position.
He said this while speaking at a press conference held yesterday (21) at the Sirikotha Party Headquarters. He said another 12 countries in the world expected support from the International Monetary Fund.
Among them, Sri Lanka was the first to receive this facility. Sri Lanka became the state that attained these achievements in a short period of time.
We were able to acquire it before other states because we proved to the international community that we can take this country forward through proper management.
Nine months ago, we were second only to Zimbabwe, and today we have been able to rise to the 18th position. The current president will be able to take this country to a place similar to Finland if the people fulfill their duties properly without cheating and interrupting this journey with protests and other obstacles.
The International Monetary Fund has given a guarantee of US$ 2.9 billion to Sri Lanka. Also, it has been informed that if Sri Lanka continues to engage in management properly, this amount is expected to increase to US$ 7 billion.The importance of this is more than the loan received, the International Monetary Fund is sending a message to the world that Sri Lanka is a country that is ready to rise again. We as the United National Party express our gratitude to the International Monetary Fund. Different parties in the country mentioned different stories about obtaining loans from the International Monetary Fund.
The opposition leader said that he goes to the International Monetary Fund with his back straight like a lion. He should understand that this is not a back problem but a brain and survival problem.
