Programme to Develop Schoolchildren’s Attitudes and Skills
The Board of Directors of Dam Saviya International Foundation (DSIF) recently held discussions with the Director General of Public Relations to the President, Thusitha Halloluwa, to explain the implementation of their Bodu Udana Educational Programmme to develop the Knowledge, Attitude and Skills of schoolchildren islandwide.
The Directors explained that the aim of the programme is to support the government’s education programmes by improving attitudes and skills of children to suit the needs of the modern world.
Providing vocational training to the children in line with requirements of the country and international job markets too were discussed.
Halloluwa told officials that the President’s thinking too was that it was important to improve students attitudes and skills in vocational studies. “The teacher’s guidance is essential for that. The association of exemplary teachers, rich with knowledge and kindness, make the future generations of a country into enlightened citizens. This is what the President thinks” Halloluwa added.
DSIF Chairman Thushara Gunathilaka, responding to Halloluwa, said that the Bodu Udana Education Skills Development Programme will strive to develop attitudes and skills of schoolchildren.
He further said that, with the blessings of the President, his organisation will strive to help 100,000 students islandwide under this programme, during the next 12 months.
