Record breaking sportswoman Sachini now working as a domestic in ME

Anton Dharmasiri, a resident of Padukka Watareka, says that his daughter Sachini Kaushalya Perera,

who holds the women’s pole vaulting record in Sri Lanka, left sports activities and went to work as a domestic worker in the Middle-East due to financial difficulties.

He said that his daughter has won the pole vault championship consecutively between 2018 and 2022 and she has renewed the women’s pole vault record nine times in a row and she also claims the Sri Lanka Army women’s pole vault record and the security service women’s pole vault records.

Sachini Kaushalya Perera, the youngest daughter of a family of two, joined the Sri Lankan Army and represented the Army due to her sporting prowess.

Dharmasiri further said her daughter left the country and went to work as a domestic worker in the Middle East due to the economic hardships at home with her mother too suffering from paralysis and her frustration with the sports field due to the lack of proper support.
