A police constable has been arrested by the Kosgoda police for allegedly forcing a disabled young woman suffering from polio to remove her clothes in front of her mother.
He is also accused of sexual harassment. The victim is said to be a 20-year-old girl residing in Induruwa. Police say that this disabled girl has been taking care of the police officer’s mother for about two years.
On Friday (20) when this officer came to the house, he had accused the disabled girl of stealing 10,000 rupees which was in his wallet. However, the girl has denied any involvement of taking any money.Then the police officer had said that she and her mother had committed this theft together.
The officer then locked the young woman and her mother in a room of the house and forced to strip naked in front of her mother, police said. Police say that the girl’s complaint shows that he touched her body and squeezed her breasts under the pretext of checking her.
The girl told the police that the police officer assaulted her when she refused to remove her clothes.Police say that before the complaint of this girl was received at the police station, the police officer came and filed a complaint about the loss of 10,000 rupees in his wallet. The suspect police officer is scheduled to be produced in court today (22).
