Senul Ratnayake the table tennis star
He was interested in playing table tennis as his father, R. M. Saman Ratnayake was also a veteran TT player and Senul became the TT Champion in the Under 8 Central Province TT Tournament and this championship Inspired him to practice harder.
In his first TT tournament he became the Runner-up at the All Island Novices Meet in 2017 and in 2018 he became the Champion at the Under 10 All Island Novices TT tournament.
In 2019 in the Under 12 All Island Unranked TT Championship he became the first and in the same year he was Runner-up at the Under 10 Sri Lanka Ranking Championship and Captained the Under 10 ‘A’ Division Semi final School TT team at the All Island Inter School table tennis tournament.
In the year 2021 he was the Quarter finalist in the Under 15 Sri Lanka Ranking TT Championship and
became the Under 12 Sri Lanka Ranking Number One player.
Senul was selected to represent Sri Lanka Under 12 team as the Number One Player for the International World Hopes and Challenge Programme in 2021 and so far it was his Best achievement in his Table Tennis career.
Furthermore he has been awarded the ‘Rajans Maroons’ for Three consecutive years and it was the highest accolade bestowed in Dharmaraja College colours nite for Under 18 sportsmen.
Apart from his sports activities he was a Prefect at the Primary Section of the College and a member of the College Junior English Society and RMUN (Rajans’ Model United Nations).
Senul’s father Saman Ratnayake, is a Lawyer by profession and his mother, Chathurica Abeyratne is a teacher at Sussex College, Kandy.
Senul’s future ambition is to bring a Gold Medal for Sri lanka representing the Country at South Asian TT Championship beating the other countries and to make his Country and his School, Dharmaraja College proud of him.
He wants to convey his gratitude to all his Coaches, Hasitha Samaraweera and Krishan Wickremaratne, his School Teachers and well wishers for the guidance given to him to become a outstanding Table Tennis player.
