Shop employee arrested after intimidating owner’s wife, blackmailing her

An employee of a business in Negombo run by a millionaire business, in the wholesale and retail textile trade, who had an affair with his wife, had threatened and intimidated her saying that he would show naked photographs of her to her husband had acquired by force, from her, over Rs. 1.7 million worth of gold jewellery. Bureau, who conducted an investigation had taken into custody the employee involved in the incident day before yesterday (19).

Police information revealed that the investigation was conducted according to a complaint made by the businessman’s wife.

The suspect who was arrested, is a 23 year-old resident of Gomeswatte, Negombo.The gold items he allegedly got from her had been sold to a jewellery shop in Negombo. The Divisional Crimes Investigation Bureau stated that the gold items had been melted to produce new gold items and a gold ball weighing four grams was also found.

It is said that about 20 employees are working in this business.Investigations revealed that the 38-year-old businessman’s wife had been having an affair with this employee for about two years.
