Sri Lanka needs reforms in education – NPP

National People’s Power (NPP) Member, MP Dr. Harini Amarasuriya said that Sri Lanka needs reforms in education to produce a more civilized, kind and intelligent society, and also produce leaders needed for the social transformation.

She stated this while attending a public gathering held at Colombo Public Library premises recently.

“As the country has now accepted that the economic model created in 1978 has created crises we need to come up with a better people-centric economic model,”she added.

She also noted that the steps taken by the government to mitigate the crises in the country were not feasible and thus they cannot be accepted.

Commenting on the economy of this country, she further said that this bankrupt economy will not be allowed to continue and that she will commit herself from this moment to create a transformation in the society that calls for human and social values, development of human resources and social transformation.

She had further said that instead of finding solutions to the current crisis, it is intensifying and the solutions that the people and young women of this country are hoping for have become impossible.
