Sri Lanka to host inaugural ‘Gym for Life Challenge’
The National Gymnastic Association of Sri Lanka is gearing up to launch its inaugural ‘Gym for Life Challenge’ gymnastics championship, a captivating blend of athleticism and artistry, scheduled to take place on September 11 and 12 at the prestigious Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium. With an impressive turnout of over 2,500 gymnasts, this event promises to be a grand celebration of talent and unwavering dedication.
Over the course of this two-day championship, a dazzling array of gymnastic disciplines will be on display, encompassing gymnastics, aerobics,
acrobatics, artistic gymnastics, and rhythmic gymnastics. Both male and female athletes will take center stage to showcase their remarkable skills and boundless creativity.
The ‘Gym for Life Challenge’ championship will be divided into three main categories: Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed. Aligned with the vision of the International Gymnastic Federation, which champions the cause of “gymnastics for all,” this sporting spectacle will not only demonstrate the highest echelons of competitive gymnastics but also pay tribute to the inclusive and artistic dimensions of the sport.
The grand opening ceremony of this illustrious event is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Monday and will be graced by the presence of the Chinese Ambassador, alongside the President of the National Gymnastic Association of Sri Lanka, Parliamentarian Premanath C Dolawatte. Overseeing the finals, slated for Tuesday, will be Maxwel de Silva, the Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee.
