Two new machines (GD fan and GD light) are being used for the Asia Cup cricket tournament to dry the wicket and both machines are being used for the first time to dry the wicket on rain hit grounds. The man behind these two instruments the inventor is none other than Godfrey Dabrare who is the International Venue Manager and National curator.

International Venue Manager and National curator Godfrey Dabrare talking to the “Daily News” in an exclusive interview said I always work hard to develop the grounds and develop wickets while I know my duty as International venue Manager and National curator. We are back at the scene but our role is very important to play the match at National level as well as International level.

I had the idea to invent fan set and light set to dry wicket and I was thinking and then realized this easy method. We had to spend nearly three lakh rupees to invent these machines. Godfray Dabrare has an idea to introduce these machines to other venues.

We call GD fan ( Ground Development fan ) and GD Light ( Ground Development light). The simple theory three fans are in a trolly with two wheels for GD fan while three high power lights are put into a trolly with two wheels and both have to get a power supply and we bring these two machines to the wicket to dry it and this is practically very successful said Godfrey Dabrare. We normally come to the venue early in the morning and start our work with my ground staff. Drying the wicket with these two machines get quick action and we get dry wicket at R.Premadasa International cricket stadium and all are praising it said Godfrey Dabrare

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma praised Ground staff of the R.Premadasa International cricket stadium and former Pakistan skipper and International commentator Wasim Akram also said superb duty done by Ground staff and good example for other countries.
