Time saving measure for applicants :
Call 0112117116 to reserve from Monday :
To obtain driving licences, medical certificates and other services:
It will be compulsory to reserve a date and time slot in advance to obtain any service from the Motor Traffic Department from next Monday (4), Motor Traffic Department Commissioner General Nishantha Anuruddha Weerasinghe said yesterday.
Addressing a media briefing held under the patronage of Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana, at Information Department premises yesterday, he said that people are advised to visit the DMT’s official website https://dmtappointments.dmt.gov.lk/ or contact the automated telephone service 0112117116 to obtain respective date and time.
People calling from outside Colombo should enter the area code with the normal number 0112117116.
He said that after dialling the automatic phone number 0112117116 and choosing the required services, he or she should enter the phone number and ID number.
Then the text message will be sent by DMT including the date, time and place to obtain the service.
This decision has been taken to save the time of people visiting the department for services and to reduce the number of people visiting the head office and other branches.
Commenting further he said all the clients who come to the DMT head offices and branches to obtain services must book their respective time and date in advance.
National Transport Medical Institute (NTMI) Chairman Darshana Abeyratne said that it is essential to obtain separate date and time for medical examinations through the electronic channel system.
He also said that people coming to the National Transport Medical Institute to get medical certificates for driving licences should get a date and time from Monday.
