Around 180 students of the Ragama Medical Faculty, who were stranded in the Hanthana mountains in Kandy due to bad weather were rescued after several hours in a joint operation by the Army and the Police.
The students of the Ragama Medical Faculty had climbed the Hanthana mountains on Saturday afternoon from the Mahakanda side. Police said the students had lost their way back due to the heavy fog at the time.Police said that the university students were located following a six-hour operation after Police received the information from the parents of the students. They had been brought down in two batches at early morning yesterday.
Among them, two female students and two male students who were not feeling well have been admitted to the Kandy National Hospital for treatment. Their condition is not serious.
