4,718 Principals to be appointed in November

4,718 principal appointments will be made at the beginning of November, Education Minister Dr.Susil Premajayantha said.

He said that it is expected to develop essential human and physical resources in the school system through the upcoming budget.

He added that moves will be taken to fill the vacancies in the Teachers’ Service, the Education Administration Service and Teacher Education Service as well by filling 705 vacancies in the Teacher Education Service and 405 vacancies in the Education Administration Service.

The Minister also said that the human resource deficiencies of the entire education system are expected to be completed by January and said that everyone will have to adapt to the structural changes made in the educational transformation.

He said that by the year 2030, all schools will provide free school lunch to students.

“In the future, measures will be taken to systematically increase allowances such as school uniforms and lunches by applying more provisions than the year 2023. Accordingly, by 2030, we will work to provide free school lunches to all school students.”

The minister said that the discussions related to making provisions for it are currently being conducted with the relevant parties including the French government.

In the midst of all this, the minister emphasised that attention should be paid to maintaining the educational activities of the children without interruption and said that he expects everyone’s support to continue the sustainable education program.
