77th Independence Day at Independence Square
The 77th Independence Day celebration was held at Independence Square, Colombo, yesterday (04) under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
This year’s celebrations were of a restrained nature, sans the unnecessary extravagance of the usual pomp and pageantry that was the norm. Consequently, the Armed Forces’ participation at the celebration was reduced by 40%.
