Budget allocations only on paper, Treasury empty – UNP

The Budget allocations are an estimation and releasing the allocated funds is questionable when the Treasury  is empty, UNP General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara said.

Speaking to the media yesterday, he said that the country has a bottomless economy as of now. “We respect the Supreme Court decision on the Local Government Elections. The country has declared bankruptcy.The Budget is only an estimation. At a time the Treasury is empty, the Finance Minister and the Finance Ministry Secretary have faced difficulties in providing the necessary funds to implement the Budget proposals,” he said.
