The 12th edition of Sri Lanka’s National Healthcare Expo, Medicare 2023 was ceremoniously inaugurated on March 3, at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Center at the BMICH The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.
Commencing on March 3, the expo rolled out over three days till the 5th, attracting well over 10,000 visitors, comprising both general public and industry partners.
Organised under the theme ‘Cure Sri Lanka’, Medicare 2023 featured over 100 stalls, representing local and international organisations from Pharmaceutical, Medical Equipment and Hospital sectors of the healthcare industry.
Medicare 2023 featured 3 main expos under its’ roof i.e. Ayurveda & Herbal Expo, Medical Tourism Expo and National Healthcare Expo.
The ‘Nirogya 2023 – International Ayurvedic and Herbal Exhibition’ was an initiative by the Department of Ayurveda under the Ministry of Health.
The India Pavilion organised by the Services Export Promotion Council of India (SEPC) was another major highlight at the expo. Being a holistic exhibition, Medicare 2023 also featured an array of latest medical technologies, information/education on pharmaceuticals, knowledge and consultation on disease prevention and treatment and a host of other advanced medical services through the stalls of participating organisations.
Over the 3 day period, participating organisations offered a variety of free services to the general public in attendance and organisers hosted multiple educational seminars with the support of Special Medical Associations.
Most importantly, the expo effectively served as an important B2B platform that connected different local and international healthcare organisations to form mutually beneficial partnerships.
Medicare 2023 was organised by the Asia Wellness Forum in collaboration with Aitken Spence Conventions & Exhibitions under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medicine of Sri Lanka.
