Postponement of elections due to lack of votes -Anura Kumara

The election is being postponed not because of lack of funds but because of the lack of votes,” National People’s Power (NPP) MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said in Parliament yesterday.

He said that he is ready to bring the proposal to the House to cut the salaries of Local Government members by half if the Government gives a guarantee that the election will be held. Even if that is not enough, then we will propose to cut the salary of members by 75 percent.The MP said this while speaking during the Adjournment Debate held for four issues including the postponement of local Government.
