Saharan’s wife bailed after four years

Abdul Cader Fathima Hadia, wife of Saharan Hashim who was detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, was ordered to be released by the Kalmunai High Court under strict bail conditions.  

She was released with two sureties of Rs.2.5 million and Rs.25,000. The High Court barred the accused and the sureties from leaving the country. Fathima Hadia was also ordered to be present at the Criminal Investigation branch every last Sunday of the month.

The Attorney General filed indictments against her in the Kalmunai High Court in 2021. When the case was called before the Kalmunai High Court yesterday, Attorneys who appeared on behalf of accused made submissions to secure bail for her.

The High Court granted her bail after taking into the submissions made by her lawyers.
