Suspect arrested for stealing silverware from house

Athurugiriya police arrested a suspect, said to be a soldier at the Akuregoda Army Headquarters, on March 26 for stealing silverware worth over Rs. 100,000 from a house at the Bakmeegaha Road, Athurugiriya.

Police said that the suspect, addicted to ICE, had entered the house in broad daylight three days ago when no one was at the home by removing the nails of a window.

The suspect is a 37-year-old resident of Habarakada, Homagama.

A senior police officer said that the suspect has committed similar thefts earlier. Investigations are Continuing.
