Father chases children from home for refusing to bring moonshine

The Ingiriya Police arrested a father who chased out his three school-going children from home with their school books and clothes after one of them refused to obey his order to bring a packet of moonshine for him.

His wife had previously filed seven complaints with the Ingiriya Police regarding the abuses committed by this person, and later all those complaints were settled amicably.

Further investigations have revealed that the suspect had been in the practice of sending his children aged 9, 11 and 13 to bring moonshine for him over a period of time.

Following the man’s arrest, the Police had launched an extensive operation covering his village Raigamwatta and had taken into custody seven barrels of moonshine along with brewing equipment. The Police had also arrested four suspects.
