Sergeant who blackmailed female sergeant after break-up arrested

The Batticaloa Division Child and Women’s Bureau has launched an investigation to arrest a sergeant

working at the Kahawatte Police Station who has threatened a female sergeant working at Kattankudy Police by sending her nude videos on WhatsApp.

This investigation has commenced according to a complaint made by the female sergeant.The sergeant had told the Bureau of Child and Women Abuse Prevention that she had an affair with the sergeant for sometime. That had been when the sergeant was working in Kattankudy.

She had said that the relationship between the two had broken off after the sergeant got transferred and went to Kahawatte.

The sergeant had complained to the Children and Women’s Bureau that this officer had sent nude videos of herself and him together to her and several others via WhatsApp. She had handed over a CD of a video that had been sent to her by the Sergeant, through WhatsApp. A senior official of the Child and Women Abuse Prevention Bureau said that it appears that the sergeant had secretly recorded the video with his mobile phone when the two had been together on a certain occasion.

The sergeant who had sent these videos via WhatsApp, had threatened her that if she did not continue the affair with him, the videos of her would be leaked on her Facebook page and released to the media.

During the casual relationship between the two, the sergeant had obtained a loan of Rs.300,000 from the female sergeant. Police said that he has threatened her not to ask for the loan amount and if she does so, these videos will be made public through Facebook.

This sergeant had been working at the Kahawatte Police Station even yesterday (11). Information from the Kahawatte Police stated that this sergeant had been transferred from the Batticaloa division.
