An investigation has been launched under the supervision of Matara and Hambantota Deputy Inspector General of Police Mahesh Senaratne regarding a complaint received by the Tissamaharama Police that a Custodian of a Devalaya was abducted and forced to sign two Promissory Notes claiming that he borrowed Rs. 4 million from an individual.
The complaint has been lodged by the custodian of a devalaya in Senapura.
In his complaint he has said he was abducted by one of his friends with the assistance of several others.
He told the Police that he was kept prisoner in a house and was threatened with death unless he signed two Promissory Notes stating that he borrowed Rs. 4 million from his friend.
The complainant has said that he was also forced to sign on a blank paper in front of a lawyer but later his abductors had abandoned the effort as the lawyer did not agree.
The complainant has said however his signature was forcibly taken for the two Promissory Notes. Tissamaharama Police are investigating.
