OIC dies in accident

Chavakachcheri Police said that the Jaffna Kodikamam Police Traffic Division OIC died on the spot after sustaining severe injuries in an accident. The deceased Sub Inspector R. M. Gunewardene, a father of two is a resident of Wariyapola, Kurunegala.

The Sub Inspector had gone to an Ayurvedic Clinic to seek treatment for an illness and was returning home when he met with the accident. The Police officer who was travelling in a motorbike had collided with a passenger bus and a lorry and died on the spot. Chavakachcheri Police said that they arrested the bus and lorry drivers in connection with the accident.
